Iceland may not just be an island – it could be the only exposed part of an entire continent, dubbed Icelandia, that is mostly submerged beneath the Atlantic Ocean.

“There is a hidden continent right there under the sea,” said Gillian Foulger at Durham University in the UK. She and her colleagues have published the idea in a chapter of a new book, In the Footsteps of Warren B. Hamilton: New Ideas in Earth Science.
